Biographical / Historical

The Hong Kong brach of the Royal Asiatic Society was founded in 1847, but ceased operation in 1859. In 1959, the chapter reopened to to encourage an active interest in East Asia, and in Hong Kong in particular, through lectures and discussions, overseas visits, and by publishing an annual Journal.
