Biographical / Historical
Born in Guangzhou, China in 1928, Sir David Todd was a hematologist who notably served as Head of the Department of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong from 1974 to 1989. He was also the founding president of the Hong Kong College of Physicians and was instrumental in the establishment of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine and received numerous awards and honors, including the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and the title "Knight Bachelor."
Todd joined HKU in 1947 as a student and graduated with a MBBS in 1952 and with Professor A. J. S. McFadzean helped improve medical education in Hong Kong. He passed away in 2017.
